You'll recall last week – or something like that – I informed you all that I was reading this book:

I mentioned I was about a third of the way through and it was a funny – albeit traumatic – coming of age novel.
Well, I finished it on Sunday and recently began "Book 2" in the "Speed of Light" series, and I have a major announcement.
Everyone should read this book, dag-nabbit!
I don't often say things like "you MUST do this or that," especially when it comes to hobbies, such as recreational reading. But this book is amazing. The life lessons, the writing, yes – the humorous delivery; but the novel reads as an incredible parable that relates to everyone because it pretty much defines, dramatically, the human experience, friendship, and personal development. I wish I read this book in high school.
Heck, I wish I read this book every year for the past 17 years. I think I'm gonna do that for the next 17 years just to be sure I don't forget it and its lessons.
"The Hands of Enemies" is a powerful story. The character development and the personal development lessons are better than any self help or personal development non-fiction book out there.
I think the final sentence of the description on the back of the book (which I did NOT read before finishing the book. Sometimes those descriptions are spoilers) said it best:
"A powerful story about loss and forgiveness – rage and redemption – told from different perspectives with an amazing amount of heart."
Do yourself a favor and read this book. I'll definitely be loaning it out to friends, whether they like it or not. Yes, I'm gonna be pushy and annoying about this. The world will be a better place if you and everyone else read this book.
Ha! — who said I couldn't sell?
In all seriousness, I don't know how the next 2 books in the trilogy are going to match this level of excellence, but I sure hope they're at least in the same ball park.
It's a crying shame that this title isn't mainstream. Let's change that. We may just be a bunch Home Gym meatheads on this blog, but let's spearhead this thing (ha-ha!).
