What I Listened to This Week

Updated: Jul 24

I'm always trying to share as much helpful and interesting content as possible on my blog and email lists.

Obviously I write a lot about training, nutrition, sometimes sharing my own workouts and meals, or providing various programs for free.

Recently I've begun sharing what I'm reading.

I'd like to start sharing a post once per week or every couple weeks about what I've listened to during the week. If you're like me, you probably like listening to podcasts that relate to your interests or career inhibitions.

For me, that means I listen to a lot of personal training, strength or hypertrophy training, health, longevity, business development, and personal development podcasts.

I listen to these podcasts sometimes during my 15-25 minute commutes to and from work and while doing yardwork or house projects. In the summer time, I spend several hours per week on yardwork alone, and currently, my podcast listening time has increased even further due to the fact that my wife and I are fixing up and preparing to sell our rental house and are also doing a bunch of projects around our primary house to get it ready to sell in a not-so-great-for-selling market within the next year. All this is in response to the fact that we're making another cross-country move sometime during 2026.

So, with that said, while I was pulling weeds the other day I was listening to – what I considered – an amazing podcast. I immediately started considering in my little sun-kissed brain whom I should send the podcast to after I finish it (my coworkers and several clients came to mind).

Then, as if inspired by the tedious morning glory I was wrestling, I thought, what if I shared it to my blog and email list and made this a regular part of my weekly content for people? Surely anyone interested in reading my thoughts on all things physical culture (and some things literature) would be interested in listening to podcasts that I deem worthy.

So here we are. The first week of, "what I listened to this week."

This was a great podcast. Alan Aragon has been one of the most steady, trustworthy researchers and scientists in the fitness and nutrition world. I was stoked to see him being interviewed on Andrew Huberman's podcast and they had a terrific conversation. They touched on loads of topics, discussed some myths, facts, and fallacies, and I think, together, they cleared up common areas of confusion.

Here's what else I listened to and think you might enjoy, as well:

I remember watching Mark Bell's YouTube videos back during his powerlifting days many years ago, then practically forgot about him for the next 10 years. I've recently discovered his and Nsima's podcast and I'm really impressed. They offer incredibly diverse combined fitness backgrounds (they've each done just about every fitness sport or activity you can imagine) and they bring on great guests to interview. Both hosts are also phenomenal interviewers. I've really enjoyed their podcast on YouTube lately. If you're into fitness, health, performance, and a nerd for optimizing these areas – this is a great show. I found value from both these podcasts of theirs during my chores and housework last weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Hey, thanks so much for reading! If you enjoy this article, please share it with a friend, foe, or family member! I don't do mainstream social media nor do I pay for marketing ads. I rely 100% on organic reach and word of mouth (digitally, virtually, or literally). I love writing and I love sharing all this content for free, so do me a favor and pass this along and help grow my readership so we can make fitness, nutrition, and building muscle easier and sustainable for more people!
