Today's 10 Minute Active Rest Circuit

Active rest workout circuit

Jump rope x 25

Indian club swings x 10/10

Light Kettlebell snatches x 5/5

Repeat for 10 minutes

I did 5 rounds. Not a bad, gentle playful workout. 125 jump ropes. 50 Indian club swings each arm. 25 snatches each side.

T'was a nice little daily movement practice.

It's tough to beat a quick workout outside in the sun.

Move every day.

Lift hard for 30-45 minutes 3-5 days per week.

Do quick, light, active rest workouts/circuits on non-lifting days. I like treating these sessions like I do my warm ups before lifting: 3-4 exercises focusing on something for the hips, something for the shoulders, something for the core, and, ideally, something explosive and/or bouncy.

Today's active rest workout had 2 explosive/bouncy exercises (jump rope and snatch), 3 movements for the shoulders (jump rope, snatches, and Indian club swinging all hit the shoulders in a nice, blood flowing warm-up way, but the Indian clubs were the primary shoulder movement here), 1 exercise for the hips (kettlebell snatch), and while I didn't do anything specifically for the core today, all 3 exercises train the core indirectly either isometrically (jump rope), rotationally (Indian club swings), and anti-rotationally (kettlebell snatches).

Walk daily.

Bonus points for getting outside daily, regardless of the elements (walking daily is a good opportunity for checking this box).
