What I Listened to This Week (08/15/2025)

Key takeaways from the 2 interviews with Dr. Ronda Patrick:

1. Everyone should take creatine for BOTH brain and muscle health

2. Take a Vitamin D supplement

3. Take a Fish Oil Supplement (and eat more salmon)

4. Exercise is THE ULTIMATE LIFE HACK

This was a great monologue on progression for muscle growth! Stimulus above all. Numbers later. This is a good reminder for me because sometimes I'll get wrapped up on progression via reps and load and sacrifice technique and maintaining maximum tension.

If the goal is muscle mass rather than maximum strength:

Maximize technique and tension by focusing on each rep, then add reps and (later) load as the muscle gains promote (slowly) strength gains.

If strength is the goal, then sure, go ahead and push for performance regularly. But if we are prioritizing muscle growth, let the muscle growth lead to performance gains rather than trust the performance gains (more reps and load more frequently) to promote muscle growth. The latter is not very efficient if muscle growth and body composition are the end goal.
