You have to protect your own peace.
It's not selfish.
It's personal responsibility.
Here's 5 examples of how I protect my peace.
Reading books. I find 30-60 minutes per day scratches the itch. Sometimes I do much more when I have time available.
Lifting weights. I feel better when I lift, but I don't often have LOTS of time available to lift. It's one of the reasons I created this website and the idea of "the 30 Minute Physique Lifestyle." I lift weights nearly every single day. But, my lifting sessions only take around 25-35 minutes. This works for my body, it works for my mind, and it's been a magnificent approach for sculpting my physique without adding unnecessary stress around the idea of exercise. (Many people get stressed out about exercising and it becomes yet another chore. Avoid this by making it an almost daily habit and organize your workouts, sensible, so they're brief and frequent).
Going for walks. I get a lot of steps every single day due to my general predisposition to moving around, working a highly active job, living the lifestyle I preach (and that I make money teaching), etc. But I protect my peace of mind every day by setting aside 30-60 minutes to walk...for no other purpose than to get outside, look around, and meander about totally aimlessly.
Eating healthy. Believe it or not, eating clean, whole foods with an emphasis on protein, fruits, and vegetables helps you not only look better, but also feel better and think better.
Finding some casual, relaxing hobbies outside. That could be any number of things. For me, it's become hiking, rafting the river, fishing, sitting in camping chairs by the river and socializing, playing tennis, and sitting outside on weekend mornings reading a book and drinking coffee before anyone else wakes up.
That's how I protect my peace. I think it's pretty great. Feel free to give those 5 samples a try.
Find how you can best protect your peace and set some boundaries that allow you to do those things.
I hope that resonates with some of you.
