Quick Introduction

Hey! I'm Benen.

I've been a personal trainer since 2015 and have worked with people in-person in a variety of gyms, strength & conditioning facilities, and even garages (theirs and mine).

Most of my career has been focused on the in-person side of training, but, due to yet another cross-country move in Spring 2026, I've shifted a great deal of my business to online training.

I've been writing about fitness stuff online since 2020.

I help regular people build muscle, lose fat, and move better in 20-40 minute workouts. No gym required. No complicated nonsense. Just effective workouts that fit real life. I have a passion for training with kettlebells, dumbbells, and basic bodyweight exercises – but depending on individual client needs and equipment availability (and preferences) – I also incorporate machines, cables, and barbells.

Gym culture has become strange in these modern times. I prefer to strip things back to what's necessary and what works. That is:

• 20-40 minute workouts

• 2-4 strength based training sessions per week

• tenacious consistency

• honest effort

Who my training is best suited for?

Regular adults with regular adult responsibilities who are looking to be strong and lean without living in the gym.

What I'm not:

While I do hold specific certifications in bodybuilding and powerlifting, I am not a competition prep coach and I do not pretend to be. I no longer train much like a powerlifter and have little interest training someone whose main focus is powerlifting-oriented.

I'm also not a trainer that's going to switch your program every 4 weeks just to "confuse" the muscle. I like my muscles alert and ready, personally. (I jest). Progress comes as a result of consistent practice. I'm a believer that progressive overload is the key to forcing adaptations (think: better body composition), and to do that, we must track specific progress on our specific exercise variations over a long period of time. Switching plans and/or exercise variations too often interferes with our ability to truly track strength gains, limiting our progress.

I have 3 options for working with me:

Option 1: 1-on-1 Online Personal Training. You work directly with me, receive a totally customized program for you based on your needs, wants, and equipment availability. You can contact me through the app's built-in text messaging system any time. Unlimited form reviews. We have a phone call check-in at least once per month. https://www.trainerize.me/profile/benen/?planGUID=ea67cfc5edf8420593bdad8e3e041c4a

Option 2: Lifting Club Monthly Subscription Program. You have access to the Lifting Club Programs each month, get full access to the app and exercise library, video demos for each exercise, built in progress tracking through the app. This is the most cost-effective, self serve option. https://www.trainerize.me/profile/benen/?planGUID=78bc33a9a13940b09984220e57b770c1

Option 3: In-person training. This is your typical 1-on-1, in-person personal training option. Obviously, this only applies if we live in the same city. All in-person clients also receive full access to the app, including having a custom program logged and uploaded into the app. Message for rates.

Outside of my career as a personal trainer, I'm a reasonable and simple fella.

I'm a Christian, husband, brother, and son. I like hanging out with friends, family, dogs, spending lots of time outside doing just about anything – including nothing at all. I'm a big walk-maxer and enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, being anywhere around or on water (salt and fresh), and dabbling in recreational sports. I'm also a big fan of reading all kinds of fiction.

That about sums it up.

Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me.
