No Excuse for Getting Less than 5,000 Steps per Day

There is no excuse for able bodied adults to not get at least 5,000 steps per day. Zero.

If you're not getting at least 5,000 steps per day, you're just lazy.

Seriously. It sounds harsh but it's true.

2x30 minute walks, 6x10 minute walks, 10x6 minute walks – all get you to or pretty darn close to 5,000 steps. That's nothing. Throw in steps you should be getting just from walking to your mail box, putting away dishes, walking through a parking lot, walking around during your workouts, etc. and you should easily be able to hit 5,000 steps per day without even thinking about it.

Oh, you have a sedentary job? So does the majority of the population. It's not an excuse to become one with chairs and sofas.

Our bodies – at least partially – are reflections of our decisions and our lifestyles.

Cut the excuses. Track your steps every day if you're on the fence or below 5,000 steps per day.

Get your 5,000 steps.

If you are regularly below this number and you don't do any consistent exercise, I can guarantee your life will be tougher than necessary for you and your loved ones, sooner rather than later.

Take your health at least mildly seriously. Your health and lifestyle don't only affect you. It affects all the people around you who care for you.
