This has been the most enjoyable cutting phase I've ever experienced. I believe I'm 6 weeks in, and I've maintained my sanity just fine (in my opinion) up to this point. I think I'll buckle down and for another 4 weeks and then reassess if it's time to go into maintenance mode for a few weeks or just commit to cutting deep and disappearing as a person.
The shoulder still isn't 100% but the fact that I was able to hold the kettlebell in the front rack during front squats – mostly pain free – is a good sign.
Horizontal pressing variations are still a little tender, but I'm just taking it easy on those for a while. I used just 60 pound dumbbells today and left plenty of reps in the tanks. I'm just trying to keep tension on the chest. I should be back to normal soon on those.
I supersetted rows with bench presses. I also supersetted skull crushers with calf raises. Superset may be a stretch. I simply alternated between the 2 exercises. So I did my Big Foot rows, rested about 2 minutes, then did my incline presses, rested about 2 minutes, and repeated.
I did the same with skull crushers and calves but probably only rested about a minute between the exercises since they're both isolation movements and less fatiguing.
I'm sure there is an official name for the gorilla rows + 2 arm row combination, but I call it Big Foot rows because it's gorilla rows with a little extra spice. So that's the story there. If there is an official name for the exercise, feel free to share it. But I'll probably stick with big foot.
